Rory McIlroy dominant in the final round to win the RBC Canadian Open
Rory McIlroy is your 2019 RBC Canadian Open champion.
McIlroy was making his first ever appearance on Canadian soil and he didn’t disappoint in his debut. The 30 year-old dazzled the massive crowds at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club with his precision by shooting a final round 61 which included nine birdies and an eagle on 17.
Heading into the the final round, there was a three-way tie for the lead at 13-under par between McIlroy, Matt Kuchar and Webb Simpson.
However, McIlroy opened his final round front nine by shooting 30 for the fifth time in his career and created an insurmountable lead to overcome for his opponents. He finished the week at 22-under par.
Rory ended up with a seven-shot win over Webb Simpson and Shane Lowry who both finished at 15-under par.

McIlroy picked up his second win of 2019 (after winning the Players Championship back in March) and his 16th career win on the PGA Tour.
He now heads to Pebble Beach for the U.S Open in peak form and the favourite to capture his second U.S Open title.
