PGA commissioner Jay Monahan discusses legalized gambling in golf

The U.S Supreme Court’s ruling that individual states can legalize gambling has sent shock waves throughout the sporting world.

The PGA and LPGA Tour will of course be affected by this ruling which has opened up a can of worms that could takes years before the effects are truly understood.

According to Bloomberg.com:

Americans place $150 billion a year in illegal sports bets, according to the casino-backed American Gaming Association. The research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming puts the number at $50 billion to $60 billion, not counting bets among friends.

PGA commissioner Jay Monahan spoke to Bob Weeks of Golf Talk Canada who questioned Monahan on the plan of action by the PGA and what effects will come from the legalization of sports betting.
