Open Championship: Spieth leads but Connelly in contention
Jordan Spieth is the leader at 11-under par heading into the final round of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
Spieth continued his blazing form at the Open shooting a 65 which leaves him three strokes ahead of fellow American Matt Kuchar at 8-under.

Canadian Austin Connelly continued his meteoric rise up the leaderboard and into the golf world. The 20 year-old has literally come out of nowhere and is tied for third place with Brooks Koepka heading into Sunday. Connelly shot a 66 today to go along with 72 on Friday and an opening round 67 and sits 5-under par for the tournament.

South African Branden Grace made history today when he became the first player to shoot a 62 at a major golf tournament. He wasn’t even aware he was having a historic round until his caddy congratulated him following the 18th hole.

Dustin Johnson also made a move today after firing a 64 to catapult himself back into contention heading into the final round.
The final round of the Open Championship promises to be one of the more juicier in recent memory with some of the world’s best players hovering around the top of the leaderboard.
Add a virtual unknown like Connelly into the mix and we have a recipe for a classic in the making on Sunday at Royal Birkdale.
